This is an english timber frame style home. I was able to see this particular home in York, England. Documents found in this home date back to the 1500's. It is widely agreed upon that the age of the home dates back that long ago. You can see that the framing of the building is composed of timber beams. You can see this on the exterior of the building. These homes were built before any type of machined lumbar existed. It is fascinating that these homes still stand today. The supporting beams in this home have been warped under the weight of the home over the years. You can see how the second story main beam is bending down.
