When I was in Germany visiting relatives we went to this mountaintop monument called Kyffhäuser. It was a long drive followed by an even longer walk, but when I got to the top it was very rewarding. Kyffhäuser is a monument to King Barbarossa who apparently is sleeping beneath the monument waiting for his country's hour of need. Legend has it that he has been waiting for so long that his beard has grown through a stone table.
