Marienberg Fortress – Brad Lawson

I building that has had a positive impact on me is Marienberg Fortress in Würzburg, Germany. I visited this fortress while taking my R&R leave in Europe. Before visiting the fortress, I had always assumed that all the historically preserved buildings were associated with royalty or religion. This fortress had a very different feel than any castles or cathedrals that I had visited. The courtyards that were spread through the inside provided a sense of peace that soldier’s could use to relax. The fortress is located away from the city on top of hill for it’s strategic advantages. This semi-isolation provides a sense calm that helps take in structure’s ambiance.
