Stratford-Upon-Avon, Devon Triebold

Stratford-Upon-Avon is a town in England that is most famous for being the home of Shakespeare. Because of its historical significance, many of the buildings in town were built or were restored in the style of the 1500s in England, and are available to the public for viewing. That alone makes Stratford-Upon-Avon an excellent place to visit.

The architecture of many of the houses, restaurants, and other buildings in town, like the ones shown here, are valuable in two ways: many have historical significance (like Shakespeare's mother's home,) but they also provide an interesting glimpse into what a Medieval English town might have actually looked like. Whereas a lot of history only preserves the rich lifestyle, the houses that were preserved were not only those of the rich but also places for commoners to hang out (for example, a very very old restaurant.) The architecture in this town gives it a sense of well-roundedness and welcomeness you don't see in a lot of historical sites.
