The Cathedral of Learning | Pittsburgh, PA

I first saw the Cathedral of Learning when I went to conference at the University of Pittsburgh. The Cathedral sits in the heart of campus and towers above everything else. The outside, though somewhat more ornate, is reminiscent of any concrete skyscraper; however, upon entering the building, any thoughts of modernism fly out the window. The inside make you think you've transported back in time or maybe just to Hogwarts. The place is truly amazing with the first four stories being open and connected. Massive Gothic arches lead up to a vast ceiling. Stonework is everywhere. Pillars and arches create a great perimeter of the grand room. Tucked away, out of site, are elevators -- one of the only things that may distract from the ancientness of the room. I truly felt inspired in that place, and thats something worth writing about.
