O'connells - Brad Lawson

This blog post is more a comparison of two buildings that fit different needs. The two buildings are the old & new locations of O'connell's Irish Pub & Grille in Norman. The original building was located on main street where the new Headington Hall now stands. The brick building had 2 moderate sized windows in front that kept that lighting low and provided a low light environment that is typical of most pubs. The bar was moderate in size as well but helped provide space for many tables in booths which helped the building feel very social. Music was played at a moderate volume and made it easy for customers to hold conversations. In contrast the new building has a very commercial feel and it overly bright at most of the times. The whole bar feels like it is just there to make money and serve as many drinks as possible. Unfortunately the building might never recapture the same allure as the old building.
