Neuschwanstein Castle - Austin Heyne

The inspiration for Cinderella's Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle is located next to Hohenschwangau in southwest Bavaria, Germany. Traveling there on vacation while living in Germany, afforded me the opportunity to see this astonishing palace. As you approach the castle, climbing a very steep hill, you round a corner to the right and the castle suddenly becomes visible through the trees, at this angle the towers seem incredibly tall and the level of detail becomes immediately apparent. Even though the castle was never completed the amount of work that went into detailing inside and out was unmatched by any other castle I saw in my four years in Europe. The amount of care that went into every detail displays the amount of love Ludwig II of Bavaria must have had for the Medieval era.
