Rose Bowl Stadium post #11 by Sherman Brennan

I chose the Rose Bowl Stadium because it really stuck me how it incorporated the surrounding environment around it into the design.  By this I mean that it did not impose itself onto the area but rather seems to compliment it by not having obtrusive amounts of parking spaces and lots.  The parking you see in the bottom photograph is pretty much the extent of parking.  The Rose Bowl can seat 92,542 people and is the 17th largest stadium in the world and 11th largest in the U.S.

It was originally constructed in 1921 and the lead architect was Myron Hunt.  Designed originally as a horseshoe it was turned into a bowl shape in 1928.  When I attended an OU vs. UCLA game at the bowl I noticed how easily you got around and how the stairs were not set at as a steep incline as they are at Gaylord Stadium.
