The Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning is located in the city of Chicago
on Michigan Avenue. When walking around downtown Chicago for the first time, I
remember pointing this building out in particular and wanting to know what it
was used for. The architects of this building – Krueck and Sexton – designed it
with sustainability in mind. The curved glass allows for maximum reflection of
natural light within the building and also provides a view towards the downtown
skyline. Because it looks so dissimilar to the buildings just adjacent to it,
the Spertus Building really is very conspicuous. And unlike the majority of
Chicago architecture, the Spertus Building gains its renown not simply through
height but with a truly interesting design.
