Marina City - Chicago, IL
My first experience with Marina City was on a college visit to DePaul University in Chicago in the winter of 2010. I cant exactly pin down why I became to attracted to the architecture of this building but there was something that always made me look at it when I rode the "EL" in Chicago everyday downtown to class. I think one aspect of the 65 story building that caught my attention was that you could park in the lower sections and live on the upper portion of the tower. This is huge because if you have ever been to Chicago you will understand that parking can be a nightmare. Another reason I think that this building is one I will always have a connection with is because it reminds me of a bee hive. It was just one cool building in my mind. I always had a picture in my mind of all the busy workers in Chicago as worker bees and that at the end of the day they would come home to the bee hive. I have always said to my buddy when headed to class that I will one day end up living there! It always kept me motivated to do well in school because it is an extremely high priced apartment complex.
