Alhambra- My first submission to this blog is a palace that has all the ingredients of a cultural victory. It stands to show the best that several cultures have to offer in terms of technology and stunning masonry. This palace has elements of Islamic Arabesque and of late Iberian style. Probably the most widely known feature of this palace is the "court of lions", which are marble sculpted statues that spew water dazzlingly.
This architectural wonder, sitting atop a small mountain in the Spanish city of Granada, is an example of a structure that has stood the test of time. The thought of a structure that is a hybrid of western and eastern architecture fills me with fascination at what humans can accomplish.
