Pyramid Arena - Austin Heyne

Crossing the Mississippi River on I-40 heading into Memphis, one is greeted by The Pyramid Arena, now a Bass Pro Shops store. This is one of my favorite landmarks to see anytime I'm driving east. The pyramid isn't particularly large compared to Memphis' skyline or other pyramids. it stands 127 ft shy of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Still, being somewhat isolated it commands your attention. It's shape makes it look sturdy but the glass sides give is polished feel. It successfully modernizes the classical design and I think adds a lot of interest to the landscape.
