Above is a picture taken at the Spiro Mounds in Oklahoma. I was lucky enough to be able to visit this prehistorical site as a scouting adventure. Some of the mounds at this Spiro Indian location seemed to be larger than most houses built today. At the time it was hard for me to think about how massive the Spiro empire was at the time of their peak. Stretching across most of what is now North America, I can see now that, like the Romans or the Mongols, they were the great empire of their era. This is one reason why I think as long as people are willing to work together, great things can be accomplished.
